Coloring

The first thing I do to each frame is make a new layer copy of it. This will be the crisp black lines that make up each cell. Now with the original frame layer I use a paint bucket fill feature in Photoshop. It lets me fill in areas surrounded by black lines. This is a handy feature. I have built of a special palette of colors for each character that I paint. This way I can have consistent colors from frame to frame and scene to scene. The hardest part of coloring cells this way is the whites of the eyes since I don't like to close in the whole shape of it. I usually go back and touch it up.
